Over the past couple of years since we started our Rig of the Month series, we've had a lot of rad Toyotas featured, of almost all makes, models and years... except Tacomas! As the possible MTB rig of choice, we were shocked it took so long but the cycle breaks today, with Conner's 2nd gen Taco. This rig is a memory machine, putting on some serious road trip miles as Toyotas do best, all across the western United States.
Give us a quick INTRO- who are you? Where do you live?
Hey! My name is Conner, and I’ve grown up in Crested Butte, Colorado but now I live and
spend the majority of my time in the Reno/Tahoe area.
Give us a quick overview of your rig.
This is my 2nd gen Tacoma that my parents bought new back in 2011. She’s seen a ton of
road trips from the Colorado and Utah desert, to California and back a ton, and some
other trips thrown in the mix.
Tell us about any special modifications that make your rig stand out.
All the usuals including an Old Man Emu lift, ARB bumper, wheels and tires and some
stuff on the roof. Plus a decked storage system in the back and just over 225 thousand
miles on the truck.
What is the best road trip you’ve taken your rig on?
I have a lot of memories on Highway 50 in this thing between Colorado and California so
probably one of those trips, both solo and with the family but they’re all special.
What would be your next dream road trip?
Baja trip is on the list for sure, and so are Canada and Alaska. Hard to choose
How long have you had your North Shore Rack?
6 (?) years, been bombproof the whole time
In your travels, what is your favorite riding location/favorite trail?
Auburn, California, and specifically the Culvert Trail.
Coffee, beer or tea?
Coffee hands down
Shuttle/road trip essential tunes
Dire Straits always, and some Turnpike Troubadours is usually a good call.
