Cozy and camper ready, it's a sleeper in more ways then one
This September, we’re spotlighting a true powerhouse as our ROTM... The Toyota Sequoia. Brought to us by Alex and Shelley out of Boulder Colorado, this rig is their ultimate adventure companion. And while it may fly under the radar without a name, it is definitely a shuttle sleeper in more ways than one. With top-notch sleeping modifications and unbeatable space, it’s designed to transform every journey into an epic experience.
Give us a quick INTRO- who are you? Where do you live?
Hey, My name is Alex, I live in Boulder Colorado
Give us a quick overview of your rig.
It’s a stock 2014 Toyota Sequoia with a couple minor tweaks to it.
Tell us about any special modifications that make your rig stand out.
I started with pulling the third row out to open up more cargo space. I just have rubber mats on the floor for now, but I’d like to line it somehow one day; lots of dreams and plans though, always.
I built a removable bed platform and built out some internal storage to have a fully contained camping option.
There’s a nice speed hole in the rear bumper cover; did that on a -15 degree day with a gentle tap, plastic. Steel is the plan eventually.
What is the best road trip you’ve taken your rig on?
Every road trip is great, but I’d have to say my new favorite would be from this past spring. Five of us from the bike shop loaded all our camping gear and bikes and crap into the rig and headed over to Fruita, CO for some desert time. Even loaded down with all of us that thing rips, but it sure is thirsty.
What would be your next dream road trip?
Oh man, again…all of ‘em? East coast resort riding is on the list, Bentonville, of course.
I’d love to get out to Oregon, Washington, PNW areas. I’ve never been to Whistler to ride. More Dreams.
How long have you had your North Shore Rack?
I’ve had my North Shore Rack a little over three years now, going strong.
In your travels, what is your favorite riding location/favorite trail?
It’s tough to say, even the weird ones are fun.
I love any good jump line, but if you were looking for me in a parking lot gearing up, it’d be in the dirt lot at Trestle Bike Park. Love that place.
Coffee, beer or tea?
Coffee till ya get the shakes, beer till they go away.
Shuttle/road trip essential tunes?
Ah man, a wide selection.
A blend of thrash and punk, maybe some electro pump up jams for the shuttle.
Mix of old school country, Waylon, Willie, Johnny, to whatever keeps my eyes open for the trip.
