A CLASSIC NEVER GETS OLD

November's Rig of the Month is a 1987 Toyota Landcruiser affectionately named "The Razorcrest" is brought to us by Kyle who purchased, and restored it right after returning to BC from living abroad in Australia. This has always been his favorite generation of Landcruiser and when it one popped up, he had to get it, as the manual ones with the straight six are pretty rare.

TELL US ABOUT ANY SPECIAL MODIFICATIONS THAT MAKE YOUR RIG STAND OUT.

Well, I bought it with all the armor and roof rack. This guy Clayton made it all himself and it’s held up well and has some unique features. My good buddy Tom from BackWestBuilt and I have done an aftermarket turbo build. He made all of the custom stainless-steel tubing for everything and I found all the parts and tried to map everything out. He also built a custom exhaust for it and did a complete overhaul to the body rust. He cut out all of the rot and basically restored the truck. I owe a lot to him. Other than that, the truck is basically stock besides a 2-1/2” lift and some heavy springs.

WHAT IS THE BEST ROAD TRIP YOU’VE TAKEN YOUR RIG ON?

Best road trip is definitely going up to the Yukon. I went with my friends Tom, Mike, Brandon, Maddie and Al. We went up through Hwy 37 and then back down through the Rockies. 21 days and we camped almost every night at an epic spot. WHAT WOULD BE YOUR NEXT DREAM ROAD TRIP?

I would love to drive to South America, but all of my Latin buddies have said that the Narcos would love my car, and it probably isn’t the best idea.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR NORTH SHORE RACK?

I’ve had the rack since 2018 but honestly I’ve been using them since 2012 when I first started biking. My buddy Tom always had one and it’s basically been the staple since day one.

IN YOUR TRAVELS, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE RIDING LOCATION/FAVORITE TRAIL?

I haven’t done as much travelling around with my bike as I would like, but I’ve had a great time riding up in Pemberton and Merritt (British Columbia, Canada). Anything with steep chutes and rock slabs is pretty much where I want to be.

COFFEE, BEER, OR TEA?

Coffee before work, beer after work, and tea on the quiet nights with the lady. Weekends there are no rules.

SHUTTLE/ROAD TRIP ESSENTIAL TUNES?

It depends on my mood because I love all kinds of music. But Aerials by SOAD, is a must have. Some Snak the Ripper is always good and definitely some Three 6 Mafia.
