One cool cruiser
The inaugural North Shore Racks Rig of the Month for October 2023 is “Sweet Love”, presented by Ripton, makers of some of the best damn denim you’ve ever worn. Inspired by all that California has to offer, the Ripton crew purchased Sweet Love, a manual 5 speed, all original 84 Honda Accord hatchback complete with the pop-up lights, at the US/Mexican border outside of San Diego to embark on a 1000 mile road trip up the coast to surf, eat, and most importantly rip bikes.

Tell us about any special modifications that make your rig stand out.
We bought the rig in Chula Vista, CA and got some scrappy folks in a marine welding yard to weld a 2” hitch receiver off a f-250 to the frame of the car. This involved chopping the exhaust and modifying some custom components. This was done so we could put our North Shore Rack on the rig.
How long have you had your North Shore Rack?
Our North Shore Rack has changed hands in our circle many times throughout the last 6 or so years.
What is the best road trip you’ve taken your rig on?
A 1000 mile road trip up the coast of CA checking out some stellar riding and connecting with lots of great folks along the way.
What would be your next dream road trip?
A full exploration of the Tetons with some shuttle laps on Teton pass.
In your travels, what is your favorite riding location/favorite trail?
The central coast of CA has a lot to offer in terms of fast, flowy, creative trails.
Coffee, beer, or tea?
We are a big coffee crew over here at Ripton, commonly shouting “fresh pots!” throughout the office when more coffee is ready for the team.
Shuttle/road trip essential tunes?
Classic 8 track tapes in the tape deck from the folks ranging from the Bee Gee’s to Waylon Jennings.
