Give us a quick INTRO- who are you? Where do you live?
- Tammy Stothers – Owner and Head Coach of Escape Adventures since 2015
- Live and raised in North Van except for….
- Lived in New York and Toronto for 12 years for school and my first job
- Master of Science in Genetic Counselling
- Teach mtn biking skills with a twist of physics
- The Shore culture, brought me home
Give us a quick overview of your rig.
- 2015 Subaru Forester
- End of the Line Culture sticker from Tofino – on the back window
- As much as my car is not wrapped as Escape Adventures, I was once told that ‘everyone’ knows which car is mine because of the NS Rack and the sticker
What is the best road trip you’ve taken your rig on?
- There have been sooooo many
- Always with bikes, skis, kayaks and whatever else fits into the vehicle
- Squamish for the day
- Mtn Bike BC conference in Williams Lake
- Cumberland with my dear friend Lisa
What would be your next dream road trip?
- We are pretty lucky in BC, dreams come true every time I go on an adventure and sometimes that adventure is just taking my bike to the top of Mt Hwy to the Fromme parking lot
How long have you had your North Shore Rack?
In your travels, what is your favorite riding location/favorite trail?
- Again, living on The Shore, I’m pretty lucky to have so much in my backyard. Favorite trails really depends on what mtn I am riding.
- On Seymour – Upper Dales because Rube always has a Whoot Whoot to go along with the ride and Asian Adonis because it is a fantastic trail and it is always empty
- On Fromme – my go to is Leppard, always with the bathtub route – Crinkum because the rock corner corners always challenge me and I am always excited when I clean them – Kirkford because I can now ride it without a single dab and the builders are amazing and have done so much work on it over the last few years ~Thank you!!
- Plus my sons and I helped with the original build with Old Man Pete and Vince.
- SD44 was on strike so I brought my sons to the trails to learn trail building :)
- Then there are trails that have been shown to me by D. ~Thanks D for being the tour guide and always willing to wait for me…but I am getting faster!
- Pineapple Express – was my first trail on that side of the mountain and resulted in my only black eye from riding – hit a root with my tire and came off my bike with such force and hit another root and had to tell people ‘You should see the other guy’ for a few weeks.
- Paul’s and Fred’s are a definite favourite and are ridden a lot lately
- Enjoying the Diaper Moss and staying out of the baby heads
- Haven’t ridden Cypress, D told me I need my ‘big boy pants to ride there’. And I’m okay not having ‘big boy pants!
Coffee, beer or tea?
- Coffee always, definitely Moja, but good coffee, when there is no good coffee, then mint tea
- Beer always, stout by Beere as they mix it with Moja coffee which is sorta like two in one – coffee and beer!
Shuttle/road trip essential tunes?
- Tunes are essential at all times, shuttle, road trip and going down, except when I unplug and listen to the creeks, birds and smell the cedar
- Thank you Nathan for supplying all my Spotify playlists
- Favourite song – Gooey by Glass Animals because it talks about Winnie The Pooh and peanut butter – two of my favorite things in life!
- Thank you Kurt for always knowing where I am being the dirt or the snow
