A Wrangler's World is an open Road
Coming in hot as things heat up, our May ROTM is presented by Caio, Giant Bike's Quality Assurance boss. Caio's flame red Jeep Wrangler lives and breathes BC adventure, between evening shuttle laps in North Van and overlanding journeys to the best camp spots.
Give us a quick INTRO- who are you? Where do you live?
I’m Caio from Brazil, but I have been living in Vancouver since 2020.
Give us a quick overview of your rig.
It’s a 2021 Jeep Wrangler that I’ve been modifying for camping, off-roading and riding.
Tell us about any special modifications that make your rig stand out.
I guess the most obvious modifications are the tent and the awning, these make winter camping a lot better, being off the ground and sheltered. I also put a lot of time into a custom sliding shelf in the trunk to make cooking/camping life better. A lot of the time we’re covering long distances and making overnight stops along the route, so setting up and tearing down camp quickly is super important.
What is the best road trip you’ve taken your rig on?
The best road trip will be in a few months, where I will meet some friends from Brazil and we will drive from Yosemite to Yellowstone, stopping along a few other national parks along the way. Other than that, it would be the Whipsaw trail, a 2 day epic off roading route in BC.
What would be your next dream road trip?
I would love to take a year off and drive all the way back home, making as many stops as possible along the way.
How long have you had your North Shore Rack?
My current rack is just a couple months old, but I have been rocking NSR’s since 2020.
In your travels, what is your favorite riding location/favorite trail?
My favorite spot is by far Whistler Bike Park, laps on laps all day on A-Line and DM are just unbeatable.
Coffee, beer or tea?
Beer.
Shuttle/road trip essential tunes?
Anything that played on a NWD movie.
